What happened to me: Things that used to excite me don't.

I found myself staring at a screen watching the 2008 Iron Man. I remember a time when this used to leave me thinking how cool it would be if I could build a real-life Iron Man with Jarvis integrated, of course. I thought that was a challenge that would be worth taking. I recall watching tutorials on Python and copying code I barely understood to build my own AI voice agent back when agents weren't even a thing.

I recall a time when books excited me. I read "Cirque Du Freak" back when I was amazed by vampires and how each story had some sort of origin for them; they wrote them in such a way that you felt like it was a history lesson and less of a fantasy. Then, in the 9th grade, I read Dynamite and Peace, the story of Alfred Nobel. The chaos that brought to my mind of someone who made so much money but struggled with the consequences of his actions. I mean, I can recall what that book did for me from a moral standpoint, that I struggle thinking why I don't read as much today.

Perhaps it's all the information, interactions that are just overwhelming, and perhaps our age will tell of times when we used to read more and not spend so much time on TikTok or Instagram. Perhaps that will be an unfair advantage on the job market, but with people building software like Cluely to cheat on everything, that still leaves me conflicted.

Anyways, this was just a short walk down memory lane for a man struggling with some thoughts he felt like sharing.
